If you are in the market for an affordable entry-level you may not have considered Toyota a possibility if you’re still remembering their strangely proportioned Echo. But look again, the Echo is gone and has been replaced by the new Yaris – it’s a better vehicle all around.

The Toyota Yaris is new to North Americans but the current model actually the second generation to the rest of the world. The first version of the Yaris was Toyota’s best selling car in Europe. Toyota's entry-level vehicle, the Yaris will likely have a lot of appeal for value-wise and young consumers.

This subcompact comes as a two-door hatchback or a four-door sedan. There’s not much in the way of standard equipment. All models are front wheel drive powered by an efficient 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine providing 106 hp. Five-speed manual is standard and four-speed automatic is optional. Both provide tremendous city/highway mileage.
